Camino de Santiago Day 11

Day 11: We woke up at 8:00 AM and had breakfast at 9:00 AM in the restaurant downstairs. There was a nice buffet set up. We then got our stuff together and Tatiana left 20 minutes before me to get a head start. I caught up to her before the first town which was Granon. Tatiana had made lunch reservations at the best restaurant in town so we had an hour and a half to kill before our reservation. We stopped at Barbackanna and relaxed in a park under the trees. We then visited a 15th century church (Iglesia de San Juan Baptiste) in town before walking over to our lunch spot, Casa Grande. We had an amazing meal there and started to hike again around 1:45 PM. After leaving Granon, we soon passed over the border from La Rioja province to Castilla y Leon province. There was a massive sunflower field on the border which was cool to see. The first town we came to in Castilla y Leon was Castildelgado. Tatiana took a bus from there and I continued onward the last 7 miles to Belorado, another small town. We stayed at Hostel B and ran the usual errands (supermarket for water/electrolyte drinks and laundry) before relaxing, walking the town, and eating dinner at Etoile Restaurant in the main square. We ate the pilgrim’s meal and it was delicious. After dinner we went back to the hostel and relaxed for the night.

Distance hiked: 15 miles
