Where should I go?
People ask me: "Of all the places in the world, where should I go if I only had one place to go?" It's a tricky question and really depends on what you are looking for on your vacation: whether adventure, relaxation, culture, history, or a mix of all of these. Pick a location that interests you and that is the most important part. However, if I HAD to choose, and it's an impossible choice, I might suggest Italy for someone who has never been there before. I say Italy because of the concentration of amazing locations within relatively short distances. Some of these locations include: Rome/Vatican City, Naples, Amalfi Coast, Florence/Tuscany, Matera, Pisa, Milan, Venice, Capri/Ischia, Bari, San Marino, Lake Como, Palermo, and many others. From Naples or Rome you could travel to any of those surrounding places within 2-4 hours by train or by car and then make a circle around the country. If the next city is a little out of reach, there are low cost airlines such as EasyJet that can fly you anywhere in Italy within 2 hours. What most impressed me about Italy is the uniqueness of the cities. After traveling all over the world, I have not experienced cities quite like Italy's cities, two examples being Venice and Matera. On top of the unique character, layout, and architecture of the cities, there is also the immense history--Rome, Naples, Florence, etc. And on top of all of that there is also the food and wine. Although a low-carb diet may be hard to sustain, go ahead and reward yourself for a week or more. Italy also has wine regions in every part of the country and every wine I tasted was delicious. On that note, any questions? Pictured below are Matera and Venice.
