Camino de Santiago Day 6
Day 6: We woke up 7:30 and ate a chocolate croissant down
the street at Taberna bakery. I then started my hike from Hotel Bidean while Tatiana
took a bus to meet me 4.7 miles away at the town of Ciraqui. Prior to meeting
Tatiana, the first town I arrived at was Maneru, a cool medieval town. I
briefly droned over the city to get a better view before continuing onward. I
then met Tatiana in Ciraqui about an hour later. Ciraqui is another medieval
town on a hill that I could see from a distance as I approached. We enjoyed
walking through the ancient town before departing out the other side. Leaving
Ciraqui, we hiked down ancient Roman roads into the Spanish countryside. We
then arrived in Lorca, and ate lunch at the local hostel there. After eating,
we walked to Villatuerta and passed over the romantic bridge. We ended the day
in Estella at Hostal Rua, which was an amazing hostel/hotel. It was very clean,
updated, and in a great location next to the Ega River. We relaxed on the
outside patio before making a climb up to the Cruz de los Castillos, the site
of an ancient castle that stood atop a hill overlooking the town. After that
hike, we cleaned up and then went out to dinner at Monjardin. Following dinner,
we had a glass of wine at Parranda Wine Bar. We then went back to the hostel
and relaxed on the back patio next to the river for the sunset (10 PM) before
going to sleep.
Distance hiked: 13.6 miles
